Meet your Merrow Team
As one of the original founders of Chantries & Pewleys alongside Chris back in 2010, Anthony Brown has been instrumental in shaping the business from day one. With nearly three decades of experience in estate agency — all of it spent in and around Guildford — he brings an unrivalled understanding of the local market.
Anthony heads up our Merrow office, where he leads a close-knit team known for their warmth, experience, and local knowledge. Having raised his own family in Merrow, he knows the area inside out — from the school run at George Abbot (which he and both his children attended), to the best dog walks and quiet shortcuts through the village. His parents still live just down the road, making Merrow very much home.
Straight-talking, calm and endlessly knowledgeable, Anthony remains hands-on in the day-to-day running of the office and is just as happy talking kerb appeal as he is negotiating a deal.
James Boyden
With 18 years of estate agency experience under his belt, James brings a wealth of knowledge and a calm, considered approach to every move. Having worked with both respected local independents and leading international firms, he’s seen all sides of the market — but it’s the Guildford patch, and particularly Merrow, that he knows best.
James is known for being approachable, reliable and always ready to offer honest advice — whether you’re upsizing, downsizing, or just exploring your options.
He lives in the Surrey Hills with his wife and daughter, and while he used to enjoy gym sessions, cooking and a bit of quiet gardening, most of his downtime these days is spent mastering the art of toddler hair braiding (Surely harder than any property negotiation).
Helen Hurst
Helen plays a key role in keeping the Merrow office running smoothly — maintaining our client database, staying on top of new listings, and helping match buyers to their perfect home the moment a property hits the market.
Having lived in Guildford for many years, Helen knows the area inside out. Her local knowledge, friendly nature and attention to detail make her a reassuring presence for both buyers and sellers, and she brings a professional yet down-to-earth approach to every viewing.
She’s a true people person, a proud mum of three (all Guildford school alumni), and currently ruled by both a lively dog and a recently adopted cat, Colin.
Lucy Griffiths
With 25 years of experience in the local property market, Lucy knows exactly what it takes to keep things running like clockwork. Having worked in both town centre and village offices, she now oversees the day-to-day operations at Merrow — from creating brochures and adverts to making sure Anthony behaves himself.
Lucy lives just a stone’s throw from the Downs with her young family, and both of her children attend local schools — giving her a strong connection to the community and the clients we work with.
Outside of the office, Lucy loves horse riding and eating out.
Selling locally?
This isn’t just where we work — it’s home turf. We know the walking routes buyers love, the best coffee spots they ask about, and which homes catch the evening light just right. That level of local insight can’t be copied, and it makes a real difference when it comes to positioning, marketing, and ultimately achieving the best result for your home.
